How do i learn to dance?

i can freak dance with girls because it's easy. all you gotta do is stand behind her and grind.

but im going to prom with a friend of mine that i WILL NOT freak dance with because that be weird.

im wondering if anyone knows websites or tips how to dance without grinding. like actualyl standing in front of the girl and dancing.

Of course u have to feel the beat and go with the flow but that's easier said than done.How do i learn to dance?
I took a ballroom dancing class my freshman year of college and that really helped me to understand some of the more classical moves. I've actually been able to apply the steps for salsa and swing in somewhat of a modified way to the music they play at dances.

There are two key ideas you should take from your research:



1.) Space can be achieved by holding the girl's right hand in your left and resting your right hand on her lower back or shoulder. It's pretty hilarious when you can dip her or spin her around during a hip hop song, and it's a lot easier to find a comfortable amount of space.



2.) You don't always have to be touching the girl. There are certains moments where you can both be doing your own thing in a group of friends just to be silly. I remember in the past when a bunch of us were making up ridiculous dance moves in a circle where we kept egging people into the center. Don't even think about worrying how you look to others; if you're confident and having a good time it'll set others (who are just as nervous - trust me) at ease.



If all else fails and you feel things are getting awkward, take a break and go talk for a while. I'll be honest with you; I've gone with guy friends before and it's pretty hard to avoid all tension. You just have to be very clear in your boundaries as friends and view the whole thing with a sense of humour.

Freak dance is better when u know not much.



Attend dance classes.



Put music and dance alone to know the steps.
By the way, dry humping isn't dancing at all. I would ask your friend how she would want you to dance and if you still don't know how ask her where can you learn. She the one your going to be dancing with so her opinion matters the most.
