Would it be strange to ask a ';strict'; friend (a girl) to dance at the prom?

Lets say I have a really good friend (a girl), and we are JUST friends. Would it be fine to ask this girl if they'd like to dance at the prom or would it be really weird? Keep in mind that I don't want to be boyfriend and girlfriend with her and she is just a good friend. (I want everyone's opinion on this so tell me if you are a girl because I want to know how both sexes think!)Would it be strange to ask a ';strict'; friend (a girl) to dance at the prom?
I'm a girl. You should definitely ask her to dance. Stop making more out of it than it is. Prom is a time for making memories and to have fun. If your still worried stay away from the slow songs. I think you should definitely ask, especially if all her friends have dates too. Its a good way to make a girl feel special, having a guy ask you of all the girls he could pick.

i wouldn't think it is a problem.. just ask her.. she would understand that you are only asking her as a friend as you both had been pretty good friends.. but if you would want to avoid any misunderstanding, then tell her before hand that you are only asking her as a friend..
