If she is dancing more than likely she will ignore you but when she is not with her friends then ask to buy her a drink and just talk. Don't go and just start dancing with her when she is with her friends cause the guys that are pervs usually do that.

Just start a conversation with ALL of the group just dont single out one person. Start like complimenting one of them, then perhaps if they are all from around that area. Maybe you just say ';all you ladies look gorgeous tonite'; ect! After you get in on the group it would b a good idea to dance with all of them (at once of course) dont single one girl out just yet. This is probably the moment ware you genna be in a grind train! (if its this sorta dance place) and then perhaps after the dance you can approach the girl you were originally intrested in and go from there.
ask her what music she like better and then when there is a song she likes ask her nicely if she would like to dance, and while you are dancing with her find a way to make her feel happy like making her smile.

Introduce yourself and compliment them all and ask the one you want to dance with if she would she dance with you.
Go out and dance next to them, if you see them eyeing you up then dance with them.

Rule #1 always have the same amount of your friends to match her friends. If you don't the one that doesn't have male friend to talk to will hate on you and you will be SOL.

here's what I do:



Start dancing with one of the ones on the ';outside of the group';. Be nice and smile a lot. Don't say much at first unless they say something. Once you've been up there for a few minutes, make your way to the girl that you want to talk to. Eventually while the music is still going, ask her if she'd like a drink.



Everyone is approachable. Never forget that. Have confidence in yourself, and the rest will fall into place.
Warning - if you approach them there you will get shot down 97 times out of 100, unless you're fly like me ;-)



I agree with above - wait until she is more alone to make a move and doesn't have her friends there to intrude.
Just walk up to them with a few of your friends and talk to the group. Don't single out the one girl, after talking for a few mins offer to buy some drinks for the girls. Once you get them and give them to them walk away. You want to be cool about it and not seem overly interested. By walking away and going to do something else or talk to other people it will leave them intrigued and they will be happy about your confidence and how nice you were buying them drinks...
Don't approach the dancers, they sweat out the alcohol and don't have enough time to get really drunk because they waste their time on the dance floor. Find their fat friend who has bellied up to the bar and is getting just hammered drunk. That is the one you want to have a conversation with. It doesn't matter what you say to her, she will be so happy that you talked to her, you can probably bang the slob on premises. I say this only because, unless you are johnny f-ing suave, with great dance moves and a six-pack, which I'm guessing you aren't by your question, you aren't going to get with any hot chicks at a dance club. There is no shame in going ugly early.
