My 14 year old son is supposed to dress as a hula dance girl for his ethnicity day (his school is a boys only and he is ok with the role). Can anybody give me some good tips in dressing him, specially in putting together the dress and flowers and makeup. How to dress a boy as a Hula Dance Girl?
Does he have to dress as a hula GIRL? Or can he dress as a male hula dancer (yes, men do hula dance)? If so, you can take a look at the following link for some ideas of what male hula dancers wear during their performances:

My suggestion for an easy male hula costume is:
- Aloha shirt
- Nice dress slacks
- Artificial Ti-leaf skirt
- Artificial maile lei
- Artificial fern lei
You can find some nice artificial lei at the following

He should take away something from his school's ethnicity...perhaps you should have him research authentic Hawaiian costuming. He (and you as well) should know that authentic Hawaiian costuming does not consist of the grass skirt/coconut bra combo. The ';grass'; skirt you typically see serious hula dancers wearing is actually made from shredded ti leaves. If you'd like more information, I posted an answer a couple weeks ago: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
Hope he has fun being a hula dancer for a day!How to dress a boy as a Hula Dance Girl?
Firts make sure he doesnt suffer too much.
I'd definitely skip the make-up. Even though it may look cheap, they have some awesome hula stuff at party stores (I-Party, Party City,...) I'd just go with a grass skirt and coconut bra.
just don't apply any make-up on him
