i am a shy boy, age 13, and i want a girlfriend, but i have never had the nerve to ask a girl to dance with me. how should i approach this?How do you ask a girl to dance with you?
I may be old fashioned but I am a 14 year old girl and I don't think people should date till sixteen, but going to a dance is cool, here is how I see it:

3. Do number 1. and 2. in the bathroom out of sight. You want to be put together when she first sees you

5. ';May I please dance with you'; - but I have noticed as I tend to move alot, that people I different areas of the country might say it in a different way but you can also have a signature way like '; Do you want to dance with me';. This previous one is just a generic safe one.

6. After that it's up to her but I would never turn away any guy that has the courage to ask. It's always a gamble but hopefully I've given you good chances.

If you know the girl and have had a couple of conversations with her, just ask her if she cared to dance with you. If you don't know the girl, get to know her by being yourself. Don't be a jerk, and don't be a know it all either. Girls like guys that make them feel comfortable. Once she is comfortable with you, she will gladly dance with you. Unless of course she doesn't know how to dance and doesn't want to embarrass herself.

So at a party when dancing with a girl, sometimes when they're feelin it the girls like to do that thing where they press their back to your chest and do that wavy type motion with their body/all kinds of crazy hip stuff.

Well, I can not tell you what to do, but as a girl I can absolutely tell you what has annoyed me when dancing fast songs with guys. I always hate it when the guy tries to lead me during a fast song (unless it is ballroom dancing, but I don't think this is what we are talking about here). The main reason is that I have my own dance moves for those songs and when the guy steps in and tries to do his thing with me I lose my beat. Okay here's the deal. I hate when people try to ';bump and grind'; or whatever they call it when dancing. I am a senior in college and dances I've gone to here disgust me when guys try to do that. You can dance like a normal couple. Just do the same thing you would with somebody your height. I don't see the big problem. I am 5' even and I have danced plenty of slow dances with guys alot taller than me. So I would say just have a good time and don't worry so much :)

I have had this dream for a long time to open a saloon/honky-tonk/nightcl... on the order of the one in Coyote Ugly. Not just the physical time that she spends in the place. There is a lot of physical and mental stress that consume her day. As far as help is concerned, I know she is having a difficult time with that. I just finished training someone two weeks ago and last week the first day they were late, the second day they never showed up, called after 6 hours of being late and the third day didn't even bother with anything. So the help thing is pretty difficult. She runs her tavern the way she likes it - the music she likes - the food she likes - everything about it is what she likes - after all - she spends the most amount of time there!!!!! If she has been sitting around a long time she might be bored and will be more likely to come dance with you. After one dance, walk her back to where you found her and thank her for the dance, then find another girl and repeat. It is easy, no pressure. After a few times you won't even be nervous.

Tall Girl dance shoes?

I'm 5'8'' and only 16.

My height makes me very uncomfortable, and people always think I'm like 18-19 and it really bugs me. I'm kinda skinny to like only 111 and that makes me look even taller.I even try to dress younger, wear conservative clothing, but people still think I'm older.

It can kind of get annoying, but really, the only one who really notices it or really cares about it is YOU. In my CCA, there is a talentime competition and some of us volunteered to do traditional malay dance. Mind you, i'm not Malay. So, the Malay dance girls(CCA) taught us some steps and halped us with the songs. And it's like i'm a nooo good dancer, and i don't want to back out of this thing now, yet whatever steps i do id weird and no one really wants to help me. I missed one session and well, my yearmates aren't really helping, more of criticising, saying that they look weird. I am not a good dancer, no talent in dance etc. So, how do i improve? i am not a good turner. we were doing allesacon fouettes into an allusion and a leg catch turn. i could not do it when i asked for help and when i saw how perfect everyone elses were. but when we did the whole dance, and i had all of the adrenaline and knew that no one was watching to see if i was doing terribly, i pulled it off.



just try not to worry about what other people are thinking when you're dancing and you'll see a great improvement.

You can becom a good dancer overnight most of the dancers you see on tv or in the music/dance industry have been dancing for years but you have to BELIEVE that you can improve and become a better dancer if you cant believe that you're improving or try to put effort in improving you wont. Basically you need to PRACTICE!!

Continue practicing! Some people have the natural ability to dance, and some people need to work a bit harder. You can't expect to see results in one day, but by March you can be really good if you practice. You KNOW what specific steps you have problems with, so ask for help when you have rehearsal. Have you asked the Malay girls for extra help?
just tell them you need help and that you don't want to make a fool out of yourself. also remind them that if you look stupid so do they and you probably won't win the competition. be blunt and direct but still polite. don't take no for an answer, but also don't be rude about it cuz it won't make them want to help anymore than they do now. if they don't want you to ';look weird'; than they should help you so that you don't. and also, practicing will help. you may not see improvement immediately but don't stop because practicing really is important even if you don't think it's helping. it'll help you to remember your dance, come time to compete. the more you practice, the more natural it will come to you and the less you'll have to think about it. best of luck!

Good question, I think generally speaking guys find it harder to dance in a club and generally look better if they don't go crazy, but keep movements small - see Hitch - Will Smith teaching 'Albert Brennaman' screen name.

Its really about the girl. My preference is that I HATE guys who are too cocky, or too insecure. If I see a guy not knowing how to dance, it makes me hope he doesn't ask me, cause guys, you DO have ego's and I hate babysitting those ego's. I'm not much of a dancer, but when I have been dragged out on the floor, it's because I really thought it would be a safe dance. One guy I had known for some time and had recently moved back - this was the first time in over a year that we'd seen each other. He just came up behind me and carried me out to dance. Another guy some time later kept staring at me and finally came over and asked me to dance. After he kept asking, I finally went and danced with him. When I decide to dance with someone, I make sure I have kind of watched them dancing prior to asking me. If he's been dancing with all kinds of girls and grabbing them and being nasty, then I won't give him the time of day. I don't want to be another tramp that he gets to feel up on the dance floor in front of the whole place. I'm married now so I don't have to worry about this whole mess any longer!
I just kind of look around for a guy who's cute..

How am I suppose to dance at a 'formal' dance?

A girl asked me to dance, and I'm terrible at dancing. Apparently it's 'formal', but people still grind anyway. However, I doubt this girl dances that way. With that in my mind, I really don't know how I should dance. I don't want her just sitting down the whole time at the dance you know? I mean sure we'll slow dance and do the dances where the songs tell you what to do, but what about the other 200 songs =/. Suggestions?How am I suppose to dance at a 'formal' dance?

Otherwise I'm assuming formal doesn't mean actual ballroom dances (waltz, swing, tango,etc) that you have to know the step to. As long as you're bouncing to the beat AND (and I mean AND) making some sort of physical contact, you should be fine. You have to get yourself to do it, it is fun, hold hands or SOMETHING while you dance.How am I suppose to dance at a 'formal' dance?
You could try not to be too stiff and learn how to move with the beat.

well for me most guys don't ask they just walk up and start dancin with me...but if u don't feel comfortable doing that just walk up to her and ask her if she wants to dance...once your dancin with her u stop when the song stops or wenever she stops...as far as asking for her phone number i would say wait til you've danced with her a few times and actually talked to her a little bit to feel her out and see if she's interested then before da party is over tell her you had a good time and wanted to kno if you could get her phone number...
If it were me I would wait until a guardian or a parent is not watching and you should make your move. Then the time you should stop is when the guardian or a parent almost turns around and stop. To get my number you have to ask.
Lol. Start a grind-line and just 'Fortunately' get stuck behind her. That way, if it doesn't fly, you got another chick behind you..Hopefully. Lol.

I learned to dance in 6th grade grammar school. Absolutely hated it. Always stuch with a girl a foot taller than me. I began to enjoy dancing while in the Army. Danced with Jayne Mansfield once. Danced with a film reknown Persian belly dancer named Sharahzad at 35. I love to dance not that I'm fancy. Slow dance with bodies close. I love the graceful movement of my partner. At best I don't step on feet and actually know how to lead. Sure would love to dance like the contestants on TV though.Can you dance? Girls, men, who taught you? Do you like dancing? Why?

I was enrolled into Tap, Jazz and ballet when I was 3 years old at the local dance studio. From there I have developed and learn Contemporary and Pointe. I also do Tap, Jazz and Ballet exams.



To this day I'm not even sure why I love dancing so much. But I believe that everybody is born with a talent and I think I have found mine and if I haven't I'm pretty close to it.

I learned when I was little and my mom put me in this etiquette lessons thing, which sucked, but I was happy to have learned when school dances started up and I actually knew how to dance.

Absolutely, I dance every where I go, It's just one of those things you can't stop whenever you hear a beat. You feel music surging through you. i have a song stuck in my head all the time, or a tune stuck in my ears when my iPod is in, so I love to dance. I dance like no one is looking even when they are, and especially when they aren't. No one taught me, it's just something I've always enjoyed, and has always been a big part of my life. My parent love to dance and I guess they would always encourage me to dance. In some ways I wish I had pursued dancing, like ballet, or hip-hop, or even ballroom or salsa... I hope I get the chance to do that. I too would love to dance like the stars on tv with the beautiful movements and sparkling lights on my costume.
We've learned to dance a little bit in middle school but I love breakdancing. I learn by myself with friends.
